The main dream of a Science student is to be admitted in a Medical College and become a doctor. 38 government medical and dental colleges are the top of their choices.

Getting enrolled into a renowned medical college can be the most difficult yet rewarding experience of a student's life.

Board exams or O-levels/A-levels are definitely important - but medical admission tests are more important than anything else as there is lots of competition, most important of which is your MBBS academic life and consequently, career opportunities.

Medical college admission test is the biggest admission battle of the country to handpick the aspiring doctors. A total of 84,484 candidates will compete for MBBS/BDS admission test for 10 thousand 299 seats in 126 public and private Medical-Dental colleges.

According to the health ministry, there are 3,162 seats in 29 public medical colleges, while 5,325 in 64 private medical colleges for the MBBS course. Besides, nine public dental colleges have 532 seats for the BDS course while 24 non-government dental colleges 1,280 seats.

So the extent and scope of competition can be easily comprehended. The test comprises of 100 multiple choice questions, each carrying one mark. Mark distribution is as follows: Biology 30, Chemistry 25, Physics 20, English 15, and General Knowledge 10.

Students from science background have to study Physics and Chemistry for engineering university admission test, as well as for science faculties of different universities. But in case of medical admission test, the approach and pattern of preparation for these two subjects vary substantially than other tests.Medical admission test requires emphasis on the more informative portions of the textbooks. Rather than preparing for conceptual questions, more effort should be given on studying the various information and data provided in the textbooks.

For example, in case of Physics, studying different experiments and their details, units of physical parameters, physical interpretation of different theories and their fields of applications, notable physicists and their works, important dates will come in handy.

In case of Chemistry, understanding different chemical reactions, their mechanisms, reagents and products, and their usage are essential. A thorough knowledge of organic chemistry will prove to be invaluable.

Biology is a subject that most students in their HSC/A-levels don't take much seriously. But for medical admission test, this is the subject that students need to focus on most. In case of Botany, chapters on Cell Biology (Cell, Cell Division, Cell Chemistry etc.) should be given emphasis. In Zoology, a comprehensive understanding of the human body is of utmost importance.

Many students spend quite a lot of time on General Knowledge. But there's no end to it. Assign some particular time daily to studying GK, apart from that - don't over think and panic about it. Don't waste countless hours reading GK books, allot that time and energy to other subjects.

It'll be good to follow a well-prepared guidebook that has got the previous years' questions. Don't rely totally on the answers provided in them, find them out yourselves. Follow one good book for GK; that should be enough.

Textile students sees the textile more than just clothing: Companies are developing fabrics stronger than Kevlar, which is used in body armor and bulletproof vests. Others are improving medical uses of textiles, such as composite materials used in artificial hearts and replacement joints.

Even on the clothing side, technology is driving changes such as faster looms, water-free dyeing techniques and new fabrics, such as artificial leathers and imitation denim.

Numerous universities in Bangladesh offer degrees in textile fields, including a number called textile universities that specialize in textile education. Textile courses offered include spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing, printing, finishing, and garments.

Public textile educational institutes are - Bangladesh University of Textiles (Only one Textile University in Bangladesh formerly called the "College of Textile Technology"), Abdur Rab Serniabat Textile Engineering College, Bangabandhu Textile Engineering College (Operated by Dhaka University, and formerly called the Bangladesh Institute of Textile Technology (BITT)), Begumgonj Textile Engineering College, Noakhali (Operated under the faculty of science of Chittagong University), Chittagong Textile Engineering College (Operated under Chittagong University), Khulna University of Engineering & Technology, Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Pabna Textile Engineering College (Operated under Rajshahi University).

Public-Private Partnership institute - NITTRAD: National Institute of Textile Training Research and Design (NITTRAD) is a constituent institute of the University of Dhaka.

Diploma in Textile Institutes are - Tangail Textile Institute, Dinajpur Textile Institute and Barisal Textile Institute.

Private textile educational institutes are - Ahsanullah University of Science & Technology, South East University, Daffodil International University, Primeasia University, University of South Asia, Bangladesh, Victoria University of Bangladesh, Green University of Bangladesh, City University, World University of Bangladesh (WUB), The People's University of Bangladesh, Bangladesh University of Business and Technology, European University of Bangladesh.

For more information about government textile engineering colleges you may visit - www.dot.gov.bd.

A lecturer of Jahangirnagar University (JU) Samia Farhana Soma ousts four female students from the class for wearing Niqab.

The incident took place at the Zoology department of the University on September 22, 2015. Those female students complained to the Vice-Chancellor of the University Professor Dr. Farzana Islam about the incident on September 16, 2015 (Wednesday).

The female students mentioned in the complaint that, we are from Muslim families. We do 'Purdah' from our early age as a family tradition. We were never encountered any resistance for our Niqab in other school and colleges. Till now, we keep wearing Niqab at the university with freedom.

But the harsh truth is that, the teacher of 202-number course in 2nd year Samia Farhana Soma was forced us to open the Niqab in the last two days. We were forced to open our Niqab for two days against the intense pressure from her. Later, we again started taking part in the classes with Niqab, but she threw us out of the class and ordered us to not attend her class. Certainly, we have become upset.

The lecturer Samia Farhana Soma said, I said them to take off the Niqab in the class, because I cannot understand their expression with Niqab. But they would not listen to me at all times.

President of the department Professor Md. Munawar Hossain said, I don't hear the matter till now. So, I cannot say anything about this.

The Cabinet on September 07, 2015 approved the Eighth National Pay Scale with a basic pay ranging between Tk. 8,250 and Tk. 78,000. Public universities' selection grade professors enjoyed the top grade along with secretaries and major generals in the Seventh National Pay Scale. Senior professors were included in grade-2 and professors in grade-3.

However, the eighth pay scale does not separately mention the status of selection grade professors. Muhith on September 08, 2015 said the country's most educated section was demonstrating for the "lack of knowledge" and that their work abstention had "no justification". "They don't know what the pay scale has for them", he said.

He went on alleging the universities promoted its teachers whenever it wished and dubbed it a "corrupt practice". The teachers' federation in a statement the same night dubbed his comments 'rude' and 'uncalled for'. On Wednesday, the federation in another statement claimed the minister had 'tarnished the government's image' on previous occasions with his 'uncalled-for', 'rude' and 'funny' comments.

"He was a minister under a dictator and his autocratic mentality is still intact. His arrogance is the result of that unchanged autocratic attitude", the statement, issued in Bengali, said. It said the minister's comment had angered the country's 55 million-strong 'education family'.

Independent MP Tahjib Alam Siddique in an unscheduled discussion in Parliament on Wednesday also took a dig at the minister. "The teachers are demonstrating for an end to the discrimination and the finance minister gave his reaction in his own way saying the teachers lacked knowledge", he said. Siddique lauded the teachers for continuing their movement.

In the statement, the teachers' federation hoped government would fulfill their demands without any delay. "We'll be forced to resort to tougher demonstration to realize the teachers' logical demands", it warned.

The government has asked a Cabinet committee to evaluate the teachers' proposals and make recommendations, the Cabinet secretary said on September 07, 2015. Rashid said, "I'd request the finance minister to discuss the matter (teachers' demands) with the prime minister and the education minister to find a solution".

Find out whether you need to apply for a UK student visa, and how the application process works.

UK visa requirements and general immigration criteria are managed by the UK Border Agency (UKBA), which has an easy-to-navigate site to help you determine whether you need a UK student visa. All the international students are likely to need a visa to study in the UK.

Types of UK student visa:

If
you're doing a short course or an 11-month English language course, and
are over 18 years old, you may be eligible for the student visitor
visa. This is valid up to 6 months for short courses and can be extended
for a stay of up to 11 months for English language courses. If you're
doing a longer course, you'll need to make sure your chosen institution
is on the UKBA list of trusted sponsors.
You can either apply for a Tier 4 (Child) student visa (if you're aged
4-17) or a Tier 4 (General) student visa for those aged 18 and over.

You
may also apply for entry to the UK as a prospective student. To do this
you must prove you have been in touch with some UK universities. This
visa will be valid for six months, during which time you may study -
though it is advisable to upgrade to a full student visa sooner rather
than later.

UK student visa requirements:

Your course provider
may be willing to help you to apply for a UK student visa once you have
been offered a place on a course, so it's always worth asking. You can
apply for the visa up to three months in advance of the start date of
your course. Make sure to allow plenty of time, as average visa processing times may vary.

UK
student visas are awarded on a points-based system. In order to meet
all the UK student visa requirements, you'll need to provide:
Details
of your passport; A recent photograph; A 'Confirmation of Acceptance
for Studies (CAS)' form from your course provider (worth 30 points);
Proof of adequate English language skills, through one of the
UKBA-approved English language tests (or perhaps through an alternate test or Skype interview with your course provider).

Proof
you have financial support throughout your stay in the UK (worth 10
points); This proof of financial support can take the form of bank
statements or a letter from your financial sponsor, showing you can
cover your tuition fees, accommodation and living costs. You may be
required to show you have a budget of at least £800-1,000
(US$1,320-1,650) per month.

You may also be required to produce
documents showing your academic qualifications, and to attend an
interview or biometric test, which includes a digital scan of your
fingerprints. Depending on your country of origin, you may also be
required to have certain medical vaccinations.

Using your UK student visa:

When
you enter the UK, a UK Border Agency officer will put a stamp on your
passport that states the duration of your stay in the UK. You cannot
extend your stay beyond this period. Before you arrive, you must make
sure you are fully immunized, remembering to pack your immunization
record in your hand luggage in case you are asked to show the Border
Agency officer at your UK port of entry.

While UK student visitor
visa holders and prospective student visa holders are not allowed to
work in the UK, Tier 4 student visa holders can work a certain amount of
hours per week in the holiday periods.
